It Takes a Village is a series of recorded conversations with many different people whose role it is to support families who are expecting a baby or have a new baby.

In this conversation Justine talks with Dr Samuel Heitner an experienced paediatrician and the founder of Telebaby, offering Telehealth video consultations for newborns up to the age of 12 months, along with an Acute Telehealth service for children of all ages who are currently unwell. Available Australia-wide, 7 days a week.

Dr Samuel is a paediatric consultant in the Emergency Department at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead Hospital and at Liverpool Hospital. Alongside this, he works as a paediatrician at Sydney Southwest Private Hospital (SSWPH) providing care for babies in the special care nursery, as well as the post-natal ward. In addition to his practical experience, Samuel is also a Clinical Associate Lecturer with The University of Sydney where he conducts clinical research and teaches medical students and nurses as well as a Fellow of The Royal Australasian College of Physician (FRACP) – Paediatrics & Child Health Division.

Dr Heitner is passionate about the care of children, with a special interest in the unsettled baby, reflux and milk allergies. Over the course of his many years of experience, Dr Heitner has been treating hundreds of newborns with formula intolerance, feeding difficulties, inability to settle, reflux, poor weight gain, allergies and more. With extensive experience as a paediatric consultant in the Emergency Department at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Liverpool Hospital, Dr Heitner had the privilege of treating hundreds of children each year during their acute illnesses. Driven by a strong mission to help children when they need it the most, Dr Heitner is dedicated to providing the necessary care and support during these challenging times.

Midwife led Australia wide online antenatal and hypnobirthing class

I have over 20 years experience as a midwife in the UK and Australia, working in both private and public hospitals. I have helped thousands of women in every scenario, from homebirths and water-births, births with complex issues, intervention, and caesarean births.

I am passionate about supporting women and families to be as relaxed and confident as they can be, whatever the circumstances. I have spent 20 years working in the Birth Centre and for the past few years have been an educator as part of the Child Birth Education Team. This means I am up to date with current research, policies and procedures when it comes to all things birth related.

In addition, I am a government accredited Clinical Hypnotherapist, with an Honours degree in Psychology. In my private practice I specialise in treating anxiety, trauma, fertility issues, pain management and phobias, as well as hypnobirthing techniques.

Bringing together these sets of skills, knowledge, and experience I can guide and prepare you to have the positive birth experience that you desire.
